Comments:
- This was Salminen's first victory in Gothenburg Top X. Often mentioned at
times when fair play awards are being discussed Salminen has the somewhat
unusual ability to combine uncompromising fighting spirit with 100% fair play
and there is noone in the Gothenburg Racketlon community that does not feel that
he deserved a victory, finally. Congratulations, Jukka!
- For runner-up Daniel Majetic it was also a break-through tournament since it
was the first time ever he reached the final. Majetic has improved his squash
enormously lately and his 25-23 against Salminen in this discipline was
surprising and impressive for those who watched. He lost by a margin of 9 points
in the end - but it was really closer than that; At the time when he had the
lead in the tennis by 8-4 the match was perfectly even. And there is certainly a
lot of untapped potential in the table tennis score; 22-20 is not a normal
result given the fact that Majetic is clearly the best tt player of the players
regularly attending the Top X events. 21-5 would have been much less surprising
figures. So, watch out for rapidly improving Majetic. There is sure to be more
to come in the not so distant future!
